An age old saying goes that marriages are made in heaven! It is believed that two individuals, who are destined to be together will cross each other's path at the fixed time and attain their happily ever after.

But does this really hold true in today's context? Failed relationships these days are a norm and don't come across as a shock. While digitization has made our lives easier in many ways, it is also responsible for making us more mechanized in everything, including relationships.
The Indian dating scenario is experiencing a rage of late, which is dating online. The busy urban youth finds it as an easier way to maintain relationships, where they are free to pursue their love lives, in the comfort of their home or office. Since online dating is possible in any given time of the day, they find it as a convenient way to be in a commitment with no strings attached.

If they are lucky enough, they even end up finding their soul mates, with whom they want to spend the rest of their lives.

Different people have different opinions when it comes to finding love online. While some are staunch believers of the old school way of marriage, others believe that online marriages work.

Let us have a look at the viewpoints of both sides:

Supporters of marriages made in heaven:

The people who staunchly believe that matches are a result of some divine interference are but few in number these days.

However, they strongly believe that you will meet the one made for you in some way or the other. They are hardcore romantics and deem online dating as a meager mean through which people can meet. As per them, you cannot know whether by exchanging a few messages and texts you can find your one true love or not.

Supporters of dating sites leading to marriage:

However, the one's against this rule oppose it vehemently. As per them, if marriages were actually made in heaven, then why do we witness divorces in the first place? If divine interference is responsible for you meeting a person, then how is it that you end up meeting someone incompatible at times?

They believe that one needs to be practical while handling relationships. One needs to nurture relations and make them work any way they can. They find online dating as a means to do so. They give the following points to support their views:

• You share your passions, likes and dislikes openly with a person with whom you chat.
• The anonymity provided by dating sites gives you the comfort of knowing a person well before planning your future with him or her.
• On dating sites, you generally end up chatting with people who are like-minded.
